Will You
Believe This?

You'd Better!

Some time ago on World Net Daily, a major source for news found on the web, Victor Davis Hanson wrote an excellent article entitled, "On the brink of madness." In his article he chronicles some of the things happening in our world which he considers to be morally insane. Mr. Hanson quotes a Democratic Congressman named John Dingell saying, "I don't take sides for or against Hezbollah." This statement by an elected official is so intellectually insipid as to be "morally insane." Over the past few years we have had, not only Congressmen but presidents, religious leaders, university presidents, and other people from virtually all walks of life making statements in a similar vein. We have had a President who openly debated the meaning of the word 'is' in the context of being confronted with having sex with a 21 year old intern in the Oval Office. Incredibly, members of his party defended his adultery on the basis of the principle, "It's his private life." We have university professors teaching that the conflagration of the World Trade Center disaster was orchestrated by the President of the USA. We have a huge legal organization, the ACLU, defending the right of homosexual perverts to molest little children. We have nations abroad who think that Israel is to blame for its attacks on Arabs. We have nations abroad supplying arms to blatant terrorist countries and groups who then turn around and use those weapons to blow up the people of the very nation that supplied the arms in the first place. We have ex-presidents of our country accusing us, the United States of America, of causing the deaths of countless people in the world by "aggression." We have our current administration prostituting their own policies by attempting to give one of the worst terrorist organizations in the world, the PLO, national status, even trying to make them into a country by taking land from Israel – land that was given to Israel by God in an everlasting covenant. We have a billion plus people in this world causing untold grief and misery, and by treachery and deceit subjugating whole ethnic groups and even countries while the rest of the world stands by and does nothing to stop the butchery and ethnic cleansing. Muslim dogma is that the whole world belongs to Allah, their Moon God, and it must be conquered for their false god. Yet we have major news outlets in the entire world that will not condemn the holocausts that are happening right now in Indonesia, Somalia, Sudan and other countries where Islam is now the predominant religious belief. In our own country when a Muslim slaughters Jewish people in cold blood, our newspapers report it, not as an act of terrorism but as just as another criminal act. We had an Arab sponsored act of terrorism against our Marines in Beirut killing 241 of our finest young men, and we do nothing about this act of war but wring our hands and moan about the bad things that happen when we go places where we shouldn't. It's all our fault, you see?

Folks, all you have to do is pick up today's newspaper, or listen to the radio or television, and you will be confronted with the most horrendous insane acts imaginable. In Colorado we just have been made aware that we have maybe one of the worst serial killers in history in jail. We read about people wondering how a nice man like this could do so many killing over the past years and not even be remorseful about the murders. This "moral insanity" is so prevalent in our society that one wonders what could be the cause?

With all of the horrible things going on in world and with all of the acts of insanity happening, even lost people are wondering what is happening to our world? One Friday I was working in the garage at our home and was listening to a talk show host on the radio who was lamenting the terrible state of society but he himself had no answers. What is the answer to what is happening?

Over the past four decades plus of our country's history we have systematically eliminated God from our culture. In 1962-63 and in succeeding years we have as a society told God over and over, we don't need you or your Bible to tell us anything. We have, as a country, officially and judicially told God that we will not have Him guide us, instruct us, chasten us, help us, or interfere in our affairs in any way shape or form.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Judge Roy Moore has been working hard to get our country back to the point of "acknowledging" God but has been rebuffed and rebuked by the highest levels of our leadership. In Alabama Judge Moore was removed from office primarily because of the ACLU and the leadership of the State's Attorney General who was then nominated to a much higher court position by a President who claimed to be a Christian. Instead of standing up for a man who was simply trying to lead our nation back to a position acknowledging God, Former President Bush refused to intervene and then promoted that Roman Catholic lawyer (the Attorney General) to a much more influential position in our legal system.

We have now reached a position in our world where the New International Version of the Bible, one of the worst perversions ever to be marketed, is the best selling of the 'Bibles' on the market. We have the largest churches in America promoting some of the oldest of heresies. We have religious leaders promoting ever newer and newer versions as the latest and greatest of all 'Bibles' never considering that what they are doing is undermining the very authority that they purportedly seek to promote.

We could go on and on describing more of the "moral insanity" that Mr. Hanson is so concerned with in his article, but I think you get the picture. The big question is, Why Is This Happening? Mr. Hanson does not get around to answering the question, but I will. I believe that the reason these things are coming to pass it that we have lost our ability to reason. Reason is described by Mr. Webster as, - A faculty of the mind by which it distinguishes truth from falsehood, and good from evil, and which enables the possessor to deduce inferences from facts or from propositions.

God tells us in His word that the ability to reason comes from His Book.

Hebrews 5:13-14 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

It is obvious from a detailed study of God's word that without the wisdom that comes from God and the Bible, man is hopelessly unable to "discern both good and evil." We are told over and over that Godly wisdom comes from the word of God.

Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

My College President defined Godly wisdom as, "Looking at life from God's point of view." I don't know where he got that definition, but it sure fits the Scriptures.

What we need in this world is some people with Godly wisdom, but what we have are a bunch of people trying to do what they think is right without God's word to guide them. God calls that "the wisdom of this world." As a result, we are morally and intellectually bankrupt headed to destruction. The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.

1 Corinthians 1:19-21 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

The writer of a recent best seller had it correct when she said that the religions of this world, politics, evolution, liberalism, materialism, etc, are "Godless." Godless thinking will always end up in chaos and catastrophe.

We had better get back to the Bible or we will end up in the jungle of "moral insanity" that Mr. Hanson wrote about in his article. The only hope for mankind is to trust in Jesus Christ as the Saviour and then wisdom will come as you read and study the Bible. If you have never trusted the risen, ascended Jesus Christ as your Saviour, then you must do that immediately.

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

To delay trusting Him is to invite eternal destruction in hell and eventually the lake of fire.
