Response to 2013 DOMA ruling

June 26th, 2013, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) released their ruling that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional. This 'Sorry' Court ruling flies in the face of reason, logic, and God's word. However, God will have the last laugh. God's word is true and the Court is wrong.

Psalm 2:1-6 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

This is just another example of a couple of spiritual truths. The kings of this earth, speaking of those who are in authority, believe that there is no God to whom they are accountable. This ruling by the SCOTUS reveals how deep is the wickedness of this godless society. When men or women are so steeped in godless education and belief, there is no holding back on their willingness to try to slap the Triune God of the Holy Bible in His face. The word of God says that men or women, who say, by their actions or by their words, that there is no God, are fools.

Psalm 14:1-3 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

It is quite evident that the SCOTUS has long ago left its moorings in the scriptures and embarked upon another path which will lead to total destruction of the American way of life. There is no evidence in the history of man where a nation has embraced by word and deed the tenants of Godless homosexuality and survived. This last decision was a blatant attempt to promote and exalt sodomy and lesbianism. God's word was ignored and man's wisdom was consulted. Make no mistake, God is not pleased with the decisions of the 'Sorry' Court and has not been for well over 50 years. As a nation we have judicially, legislatively, and societally said NO to God and His word, and even to the existence of Almighty God. When that happens, God steps aside and says in effect, Have your way. We'll see how it works out. Since we kicked God out in 1962/63/73 and in almost every decision since then we have said, "Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us." The pronouns in this verse refer to the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, found in God's word. What does God's word say? He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

Would you say that the US is being vexed? We have Wars, terrorist's attacks, floods, drought, tornadoes, diseases, etc., etc.

At every turn of the political wheel we have substituted government directives for God's word. In the beginning of our nation, our leaders made no secret of their dependence upon God and His word.

As one can see from these few selected quotes, the founding fathers were men who let God and His word guide their actions. This fits with the Biblical principle found in,
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Since we have decided nationally to reject God and His word all we have had is a downward slide toward oblivion. There seems to be no way to reverse the movement. America is doomed to destroy herself. Abraham Lincoln said the following in his famous 1838 Lyceum address,
"How then shall we perform it? At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest, with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand years.

At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, If it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us; it cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen we must live through all time, or die by suicide."

We have arrived at that point where the highest court in the land has officially and in effect said to God, 'We will not have you or your Book telling us what to do. We will do our own thing and chart our own path. Leave us alone.'

The chaos that we call the American society will get worse and worse. We have officially committed societal suicide and only destruction lies ahead. God warned Israel by his prophets that to ignore Him and His word was sure to bring destruction. Why should America be any different? In a recent article by ICR's Dr. Henry Morris, III, he reminded us that when we leave God the only thing that we can expect is God's judgment, and he pleaded with us to pray for the mercy of God to be shown to our country.

Isaiah 5:20-21 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

This great country was the result of many different people from many different countries seeking many different things, but the one aspect of our country that stands out above all of the rest was and is our desire for individual freedom to choose how to worship, and live, and work and play. Is it too late? As far as man is concerned, yes. The train of multi-culturalism has reached breakneck speed. I believe that the only hope for our future is an old fashioned Holy Ghost revival sent from the Triune God of the Holy Bible. That must start with you and me. Are you saved? If not then it is time for you to trust the risen Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour (please read "God Loves You"). He is the only hope for America and for you and me.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
